VAT

VAT Consultancy

UAE VAT touches almost every transaction your business makes. We keep registration, returns and treatment decisions defensible — before the Authority asks.

Overview

The UAE applies a 5% standard rate of Value Added Tax to most goods and services, with specific zero-rated, exempt and out-of-scope categories that trip up even experienced finance teams. Getting the treatment wrong on a single contract type can compound across every invoice you raise for years. We work through your revenue streams line by line, not just at registration.

Standard-rated supplies only. Zero-rated, exempt and out-of-scope transactions need their own treatment review — talk to us before relying on this for a return.

Who this is for

Any VAT-registered business in the UAE, and any business approaching the AED 375,000 mandatory registration threshold or the AED 187,500 voluntary threshold.

Frequently asked questions

Free zone status does not automatically exempt a business from VAT. Registration depends on your turnover and whether you're trading with the mainland, other free zones, or outside the UAE — we assess this as part of onboarding.

Most businesses file quarterly, though the Authority assigns monthly filing to some larger taxpayers. Your assigned tax period is shown on your VAT certificate — we track the deadline either way.

A voluntary disclosure to the Authority is usually the right first step before an error compounds. We review the exposure first and advise on the correction route with the lowest penalty risk.
